The Perfect Retreat

Welcome to Paca de Paja – a small bed & breakfast in a Santa Fe-style strawbale home. This owner-built handcrafted dwelling is a model for low impact, energy-efficient design and is a relaxing retreat in a beautiful Sonoran Desert setting.

Thick walls, Antiguo tile, flagstone, and peeled beam vigas suggest architecture of both Mexico and the Southwest United States. Inside, Mexican hand-carved furniture, Indian art, hand-woven textiles, Talavera pottery, and Navajo rugs radiate warmth and charm.

Outside, native plant gardens and rock-work bring the desert to your doorstep.

Paca de Paja appeared in the August 2009 issue of Arizona Highways in their feature article Best of Arizona — 100 Favorites as the "Best Eco-Friendly Accommodation" in the state.
